The body of a college student named Sourav Malo (21) was recovered from under the broken bus stand bridge in Faridpur.
Bhanga police station recovered the body at around 8:30 am on Friday. Saurabh Malo is the son of Swapan Malo of Majhikandi village in Nagarkanda police station of Malo district.
Sujan Malo, the cousin of the deceased, said that Saurabh was a first-year degree student at Nagarkanda College and also worked as a part-time mahri at Haji Shariatullah fish market in the city. He left Dhaka by bus on Thursday. After 5 pm he broke down and spoke to his mother on the phone. As it was drizzling, his mother asked him to come home instead of going to the city. But after some time Sourav was not picking up calls. Family members informed Banga police station and started searching for him throughout the night. Later, Sourav’s body was recovered from under the broken bus stand bridge on Friday morning.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhanga police station. Ziarul Islam said that the police went to the spot after getting the information in the morning. The body was recovered from the stone block under the bridge. Initial reports showed injuries on his head. The body has been sent to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem. The cause of death is not yet known. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
It is known that Sourav’s elder sister died a few years ago. The family and relatives are mourning the loss of their only son Sourav today.
