Half a hundred houses were attacked and vandalized in the post-election violence in Jhenaidah. The incident of robbery also happened with him. At least 10 people including a woman were injured in this incident.
The incident took place in Barikhali, Hiradanga and Shuropara villages of Porahati Union of Sadar Upazila on Monday January 8 morning.
Locals said that independent candidate Naser Shahriar Zahedi Mahul was elected in the Jhenaidah-2 constituency in the 12th National Assembly elections on Sunday. After the announcement of the results, there was tension in those three villages of Sadar.
As a result of this, it is claimed that the supporters of Porahati Union Chairman Shahidul Islam Hiran, the supporters of the winning candidate, attacked Barikhali, Hiradanga and Shuropara villages this morning.
At least 50 houses were vandalized and looted by the attackers. At least 10 people, including a woman, were injured when the attack was prevented. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Police have been deployed due to tension in the area.
