At Nangalkot in Comilla, Awami League’s boat marker danced by playing the election song on the occasion of the Great Victory Day. In this incident, a teacher named Ariful Islam was fined Tk 2,000 for violating the election code of conduct.

The incident took place in a function organized by the upazila administration at the Nangalkot upazila helipad ground on Saturday morning on the occasion of Great Victory Day.

It is learned that in the display exhibition of the second phase of the event, the students of Nangalkot Shishu Kalyan Junior School performed a dance performance by playing the election song ‘Jitbe Eber Noaka’ sung for votes in favor of the boat. However, the song was stopped after about 1 minute of playing on the mic.

Criticism is made about the violation of electoral code of conduct. President of the program and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ismail Hossain along with administration officials were present on the stage.

Later, when the matter came to the attention of the returning officer, Ariful Islam, assistant teacher of Shishu Kalyan Junior School, was charged with violation of election code of conduct and fined Tk 2,000.

When contacted on Saturday evening, Nangalkot Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Ashraful Haque said, ‘An election song was played on the stage of Shishu Kalyan Junior School during the display of various educational institutions on the occasion of Great Victory Day in Upazila Parishad Chatwar area. We stop them immediately. Later fined for violation of electoral code of conduct.’
