Members of RAB-8 have arrested Nalchiti Upazila BNP President Anisur Rahman Helal, who was the main planner of arson in polling stations to thwart the 12th National Assembly elections.

Barisal RAB-8 captain Zubair Alam Shovan confirmed the matter in a press conference at 8:30 pm on Saturday.

The captain of RAB-8 said that Anisur Rahman Helal and his forces were planning to sabotage the elections in Nalchiti area of ​​Jhalkathi and set fire to polling stations.
According to his instructions, his associates planned to set fire to the polling station with straw next to Pratap School of Bhairabpasha Union of Nalchiti Upazila.

With the help of modern information technology and intelligence information, he was arrested after learning about these plans. The captain of RAB-8 also said that Helal is accused in several sabotage cases.

Meanwhile, RAB is working to ensure fair and impartial polling in 21 constituencies of Barisal division, he said. The RAB captain also warned that no one will be spared if anyone tries to sabotage. He also said that RAB-8 is working continuously in the polling field.
