The court sent four people arrested for cooking and selling biryani with dog meat. Judge of the Metropolitan Sessions Court on Thursday afternoon. Sharif Hossain Haider gave this order.
Khalishpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Anwar Hossain confirmed this information. The defendants in the case are Taj (16), son of Lincoln Howladar of Dollar House Mor area under Khalishpur police station of the metropolis, son of Habibur Rahman of North Zone-23 of Bangbasi Mor area of the same police station. Abu Saeed (37), son of Qutb Ali of Navy Gate No. 2. Siam (16) and Prem Sardar (16) son of Sobhan Sardar of Charer Hat area under Dighlia Thana.
OC Mohammad Anwar Hossain said that last Wednesday evening, in a secret operation of Khalishpur police station, four members including the mastermind of the dog meat selling gang were arrested from an abandoned building of Khulna Government Polytechnic Institute. Many dog skins and bones were recovered from the building.
Anwar Hossain also said that the gang was doing business by cooking biryani with dog meat for about one and a half months. He used to sell biryani in packets for 30, 40 and 60 taka by miking in various areas including Khalishpur, Daulatpur of the city. Besides, they used to sell this biryani in many small hotel restaurants.
A case has been filed against the accused under Section 7 of the Animal Welfare Act, 2019. Mohammad Anwar Hossain said that when they appeared in the court in the afternoon, the court ordered them to jail.
