For the first time Bhola gas is coming to the capital Dhaka. But not in the pipeline, the gas is coming from the island district Bhola to the industrial area of Dhaka in the form of CNG. The program was inaugurated at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Thursday morning.
At that time, Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that Bhola gas is being used for industry and electricity in Barisal, Khulna.
Nasrul Hamid said that initiatives have been taken to utilize Bhola gas in various ways.
Earlier this morning Energy and Mineral Resources Secretary Nurul Alam inaugurated the program at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. He said that the industrial customers of Titas will get bottled natural gas initially. The price of gas per unit will be Rs. 43. If there is demand, 6,500 cubic meters of CNG will be delivered to the industry in crisis.
In the beginning, 5 mmsof gas is brought in daily, but next year it will be increased to 20 mmcf.
On the occasion, Petrobangla Chairman Janendra Nath Sarkar said that more oil and gas will be discovered in the country if the drilling of wells is increased. Deficit will be reduced.
Intraco Refueling is working to supply bottled gas. If this new initiative is successful in the country, the policy makers have said to emphasize on gas supply.
In 1995, natural gas was found in Borhanuddin of Dwip District Bhola. After that, gas wells were found in 2009 and 2023. However, due to the lack of gas pipelines in the areas separated from the mainland by waterways, they could not be fully exploited. Now Bhola gas will come to Dhaka by water in the form of CNG without a pipeline.
