A joint retreat ceremony of BGB-BSF was held at Akhaura International Immigration Checkpost in Brahmanbaria on the occasion of Great Victory Day. The ceremony was held on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm on the initiative of 60th battalion of BGB.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the national flags of the two countries were lowered through a parade with the sound of bugles at the zero line of the border. Later BGB presented flowers and sweets to BSF.
BGB Comilla Sector Commander Colonel Md. Shariful Islam Meraj and 60 battalion captain Lt. Colonel Md. Ashiq Hasan Ullah and Acting Commandant of BSF 42 Battalion K. Singh. Officials of both forces were present along with Negi.
Later, BGB sector commander Colonel Md. Shariful Islam Meraj told reporters, ‘We have agreed on a similar parade between the two forces. Retreat ceremonies are very important to us. Whenever there is a problem on the border – we both forces try to solve it together.’
BSF Commandant K. Singh. Negi said, ‘The BSF worked like a liberation army during the independence war of Bangladesh. The relationship between BGB and BSF is very sweet. We will strengthen this relationship in the future.’
