Bardia Bangla School’s annual sports and certificate award ceremony was held at Bardia Public School in Sydney, Australia on Sunday. Parents, guests, students, teachers and executive members of the school were present on the occasion. After reading the student Arima’s country certificate, everyone stood and performed the national anthems of Australia and Bangladesh.
Hosted by Rumana Islam, Principal Milli Islam welcomed everyone to the event and appreciated the role of parents. School President Rafiqul Islam presented a report highlighting the school’s achievements including receiving grants, developing a curriculum, association with the Association of Community Language Schools as well as participating in various professional development trainings.
Students participate in competitive and participatory sports activities under the guidance of teacher Miss Hamida Khanam and assisted by Syed Imran Jewell and Sharia Noor Mou. All the students then performed several Bengali songs and a Manha dance solo in a colorful cultural presentation. Councilor Masud Chowdhury, Education Officer of the Directorate Miss Enya Gannon and community personality Qaiser Ahmed along with parents Sanjida Khanum, Rumana Islam and Saeed Imran spoke. Mohammad Ferdous thanked everyone for attending the event.
Teacher Hamida Khanam, Treasurer Tanveer Hasan and Executive Member Tanveer Alam Riyad presented medals to the winners in sports. The certificate of ‘Participation 2023’ issued by the Department of Education was handed over by principal Milli Islam and teachers Hamida Khatun and Sharia Noor. Student Arib Imran was presented with a Ministerial Merit Award for his overall excellence and language learning.
Three parents of the most participating students were recognized with crests for their commitment to the Bengali language, while the principal and all teachers were felicitated with bouquets of flowers for their efforts and contributions. The program concluded with patriotic songs by the students.
