Bank robbery attempt in Noakhali, case filed in police station

A case has been registered in the police station in connection with an attempt to loot money from a bank using indigenous weapons in Chatkhil Upazila of Noakhali. Ramnarayanpur branch manager of Krishi Bank Golam Sarwar filed the case as the plaintiff on Sunday night.

Abdul Majeed (50), the only accused in the case, will be produced in the District Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Abdul Majeed is the son of Abdul Mannan of Mominpur village of Shahapur union of the same upazila. After this incident, he was arrested and handed over to the police.

According to the police, Abdul Majeed entered the bank wearing a mask on his face and a cap on his head around 1:30 pm on Sunday. After 30 to 35 seconds, he entered the cash counter of the bank with a knife and a hammer. Then he threatened Kashiyar with a knife and tried to rob the cash.

During a scuffle with the cashier, Majid stabbed security guard Shah Alam and ran away. Later local people arrested him and handed him over to the police. Security guard Shah Alam, who was injured in the robbery, was admitted to Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex.
