A man was arrested and handed over to the police while trying to rob a bank in the afternoon in Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali. This incident took place at Ramnarayanpur branch of Krishi Bank on Sunday afternoon.
The detained Abdul Majeed (50) is the son of Abdul Mannan of Mominpur village of Shahapur union of the same upazila.
Alok Kumar Biswas, manager of Krishi Bank’s Ramnarayanpur branch, said that the person named Abdul Majeed entered the bank wearing a mask and head cap around 1:30 p.m. After 30-35 seconds he entered the cash counter of the bank with a knife and a hammer. After that, Majid tried to rob the cashier by threatening Kashiyar with a knife.
Alok Kumar Biswas also said that during a fight with the cashier, Majid stabbed the security guard Shah Alam and ran away. Later local people chased him and arrested him and handed him over to the police. Security guard Shah Alam, who was injured in the robbery, has been admitted to Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatkhil Police Station. Imdadul Haque said that the detained Majid is being interrogated at the police station. In this incident, the bank authorities are preparing to file a case as a plaintiff.
