Bangladeshi killed in Dubai crane collapse

Zakaria Ahmed Pavel (24) of Rankeli village of Golapganj upazila of Sylhet was killed in a workplace accident in a factory in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

He died on the spot last Friday after the products were torn at work.

Sheikh Badrul Islam, the relative of the deceased said, ‘Pavel used to work as a steel fixer at CSEC Steel Industry in Mina Jebel Ali, Dubai. He came to Dubai two years ago. A steel bar being transported by a crane broke the rope and fell on him while he was working at the factory at 10 am on Friday. It bruises the legs and body. Later, when he was shifted to Dubai NMC Royal Hospital with serious injuries, the doctors declared him dead.

His family consists of his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He is the fourth child of his parents. Currently, his body is kept in the public mortuary in Deira, Dubai. After the necessary formalities, the body of the deceased will be sent to the country. Badrul added.
