Team Voyagers of Bangladesh has become the world champion in the best storytelling category of NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2023. With this, Bangladesh has become the world champion for three consecutive times and for the fourth time in total. Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) organized the Bangladesh phase of this competition for the 10th time.
In this year’s competition, 57,999 people from 8,715 teams participated in 30 categories from 152 countries. This is the largest NASA Space Apps Challenge to date. Team Voyagers has proven itself among 5,556 projects around the world. Barendra University’s team project ‘Everything Starts With Water’. According to their data, there are 370 quintillion gallons of water on Earth, of which only 0.01 percent is safe for us to use. The team’s mission was to develop a visual tool to illustrate the entire flow of water on Earth.
The members of Team Voyagers are Md. Khalid Saqib, Md. Abdul Malek, Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Mosa. Fahmida Akhter and Md. Atik Team Leader Md. Khalid Shakib said, from participating virtually to becoming the world champion, this journey was not so easy for us. But now each of us is very proud to present the name of our country in the world court.

Advisors for the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2023, Bangladesh phase were Ariful Hasan Apu and Mahdi-uz-Zaman. The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration-NASA launched this competition internationally in 152 countries of the world. Bringing together talented young people from different fields like technologists, scientists, designers, artists, educators, entrepreneurs to find innovative solutions to solve various global problems of the world. As part of this, in October last year BASIS organized the Bangladesh Parv in 9 cities of Bangladesh (Dhaka, Chittagong Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Comilla).
It should be noted that in 2018, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology’s Team Aleek became the world champion by creating a virtual application that will give the experience of traveling to the moon in the ‘Lunar VR Project’ Best Use of Data category. Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) and Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology (BOUET) joint team ‘Team Saqasan’ became the world champion in the ‘Best Mission Concept’ category in 2021 and ‘Team Diamonds’ was the world champion in the ‘Most Inspirational’ category in 2022. is
