Bangladesh has received the second tranche of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) 470 crore (4.70 billion) dollar loan. Bangladesh Bank Spokesperson and Executive Director Majbaul Haque said that according to the rules, 68.9 million dollars of the second installment of the IMF will enter the account of Bangladesh Bank by next Friday (December 15).

Majbaul Haque gave this information in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

At that time, the spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank also said that by December, 1.31 billion dollars will be added to the reserve from various donor organizations including IMF and Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Earlier, in February this year, Bangladesh received USD 476 million of the first installment of the much-awaited USD 4.70 billion (4.70 billion) loan from the IMF.

Bangladesh sought a $4.5 billion (4.5 billion) loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in July last year to deal with the huge pressure of the coronavirus pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. Later, the IMF agreed to lend $200 million more than that, i.e. $470 million (4.70 billion). This loan taken at 2.2 percent interest will come in seven installments. The last installment is scheduled to arrive in 2026.
