RAB has arrested Mostafizur Rahman Fiju (53), the sacked Assistant Director (Human Resources) of Bangladesh Bank. After 12:30 noon on Tuesday, he was sent to jail through the court.
Earlier, RAB-3 arrested Mostafizur from Dhaka on Monday night and handed him over to Faridpur’s Kotwali police station. Kotwali Police Inspector (Investigation) confirmed the fact of the incident. Abdul Ghaffar said that there was an arrest warrant against him.
It is known that wife Maqsuda Akhter filed a case against Mostafizur Rahman in Faridpur court in 2013 for not providing maintenance to his first wife and child.
Judge Faria Naushin of the 2nd Additional Family Court of Dhaka, in the judgment of the case, ordered to pay 4 lakh 8 thousand taka and 5 thousand taka every month for the dowry and maintenance of the wife. When Mustafizur appealed against this order, the court rejected it in 2017.
Maqsuda Akhtar, the plaintiff in the case, said that despite the court’s verdict, Mostafizur Rahman has not given him any maintenance money so far. He did not even appear in court. In this situation, the court sentenced Mustafizur Rahman to one month imprisonment in July 2022 when he again resorted to the court. An arrest warrant was then issued.
Mostafizur Rahman Fizu’s house is in Kushtia district. In 2010, he was dismissed from Bangladesh Bank after being involved in a drug-related case.
