Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day celebrations in Toronto

The Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was celebrated on January 10 at Bangladesh Consulate General, Toronto. On this occasion, a discussion meeting was organized in the consulate premises.

At the beginning of the ceremony, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of the Father of the Nation. After that, the speeches of the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh were read out. On this unforgettable day of the Bengali nation, the consulate officers-employees and invited speakers remembered with respect Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a timeless great man in the history of Bengali freedom struggle, father of independent-sovereign Bangladesh, father of the nation.

Acting Consul General Fahmida Sultana paid deep respect to the memory of the Father of the Nation and said, ‘January 10 is a unique historical day in the history of the liberation struggle of the Bengali nation. Bangabandhu returned home on this day in 1972 after being released from Pakistan prison. With the arrival of our great leader, the final victory of the liberation war was fulfilled. Bangabandhu is the Bengali dreamer, the shaper of independent Bengal.’

Fahmida Sultana expressed her strong optimism that the golden Bangladesh of the father of the nation’s dream, i.e. the developed and prosperous ‘Smart Bangladesh’ will be built by the year 2041 with the collective efforts of all, inspired by the spirit of the Great Liberation War.
