A 5-member investigation committee has been formed in the incident of fire in a multi-storied building on Bailey Road in the capital. Initially, the fire was believed to have started due to the explosion of a cylinder in the building. The fire service gave this information to reporters after controlling the fire.

The fire started around 9:50 pm on Thursday. After two hours of efforts, 13 units of the fire service brought the fire under control. Police, RAB, BGB and Ansar are deployed in the area to control the situation.

Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun told reporters that 44 people were killed in the fire till the last news. Before this, the Minister of Health Dr. Samanta Lal Sen confirmed the death toll of 43 people. Many others were admitted to different hospitals due to burns. The death toll is expected to rise.

Immediately after the incident, Sheikh Hasina visited the burn institute. Samant Lal Sen. The health minister spoke to the journalists after the visit. He said that 33 of the deceased are in Dhaka Medical College Hospital and 10 are in Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute. Another victim died at the Central Police Hospital. Hospital authorities are trying their best to deal with the situation.

The health minister said that most of them died due to airway burns. Apart from this, many died due to suffocation due to washing.
