Badminton competition in Qatar to mark Victory Day

Bangladesh Badminton Society, Qatar (BBSQ) organizes regular Badminton competitions to promote good health and interaction among sports loving Bangladeshis living in Qatar. In continuation of this, the two-day ‘Bangladesh Great Victory Day and Qatar National Day Badminton Competition-2023’ was completed at Cambridge Boys School Indoor in Al-Mamura, Qatar, with great enthusiasm and excitement.

A total of 84 teams participated in this two-day event on December 14 and 15 in the presence of a large number of spectators in various categories. The competition was very interesting and enjoyable with the participation of players from different countries residing in Qatar, Bangladesh Biman and several former players of Bangladesh National Badminton Team.

In the final competition, the international category (men’s doubles A and B combo) was won by Ashif Amirijan and Rizwan Farooq and the runners-up was Asif and Stagen.

Among the Bangladeshi players, former coach of Bangladesh National Badminton Team and general secretary of Bangladesh Para Badminton Enayet Ulla Khan and former national champion Md. Russell Kabir Suman pair and the runner-up was Refaz and Sinha (Bangladesh Biman) pair. Raju was the champion in the men’s singles open category and Shahan was the runner-up. Moon-Doha Travel and Tourism’s Yusuf Babu and Nazim pair won the men’s doubles category and Ripon and Shahadat pair were the runners-up. Hashmi and Hasibur (Bangladesh Biman) were the champions in the men’s doubles B category and Mamun and Saiful were the runners-up. Abu Saleh Raju and Ashiq pair won the men’s doubles C category and Riyaz and Tanveer pair were runners-up. Aqib and Ibrahim duo won the boys (under 17 years) category.

Bangladesh ambassador to Qatar was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the competition. Nazrul Islam. Bangladesh Community President Engineer Anwar Hossain Akon, Country Manager of Bangladesh Biman Md. Kamal Uddin, first secretary of the embassy Mehdi Hasan, adviser of the organization Matin Patwari, professor Dr. Anwarul Hasan, Md. Shahjahan Saju, former Acting Principal of Bangladesh School and College A.K.M. Aminul Haque and Chittagong Association General Secretary Noor Mohammad.

The management committee of the game was headed by senior vice-president of the organization Aminul Islam, vice-president Aminul Haque Chowdhury and assisted by Nazimul Haque, engineer Bashir Ahmed, Obaidur Rahman, Rahmatullah Fariaz, Badhan Millat, Tauhidul Islam, Qaiser Ahmed, Naeem Mahmud and Didar Hossain.

The program was conducted by the vice-president. Tafseer Uddin. Ashfaqdin Mamun was the general secretary of the organization under the management of Sabirk.
