Badiuzzaman Sohag’s election office set on fire in Bagerhat

Miscreants set fire to a temporary election office of the boat candidate in Bagerhat’s Morelganj. Some posters, chairs and banners were burnt in the fire. Police visited the scene on Monday morning.

Before this, this incident took place on Sunday at 3 o’clock in the morning near Amurbunia Bazar of Ward No. 8 of Nishanbaria Union of Morelganj Upazila.

Bagerhat-4 constituencies with Morelganj and Sharankhola upazilas. HM Badiuzzaman Sohag, the former president of the Central Chhatra League, is contesting in this seat with the boat symbol. Jatiya Party, NPP, Trinamool BNP, BNM and independent candidates are also contesting this seat.

Saiful Islam, chairman of Nishanbaria Union Parishad of Morelganj Upazila, said on Monday afternoon, ‘On the occasion of the upcoming election of Bagerhat-4 constituency, a temporary election office of boat symbol candidate HM Badiuzzaman Sohag was built near Amurbunia Bazar of Nishanbaria Union. The temporary election office was set on fire at around 3 pm on Sunday. Some posters, chairs and banners kept in the office were burnt in the fire. I think those who don’t want this election set fire in the dark at night.’

Morelganj police officer-in-charge (OC) said. Shamsuddin said, ‘There has been an arson incident at a temporary election office in Naukar Pratik. There was no damage in the fire. Police visited the spot. We have started an investigation to identify those who started the fire.
