A child named Nusrat Akhtar (6) was killed when he was hit by a motorcycle while going to his grandmother’s house in Madaripur’s Rajair. The accident took place on Dhaka-Barisal highway near Tekerhat rural electricity office of Rajair upazila on Sunday morning.

Nusrat is the daughter of Bigul Sheikh of Baulgram in Khalia Union of Rajair Upazila. She was a second class student in a local school.

According to locals, Nusrat’s uncle was caught by the coast guard while going from Libya to Italy by sea. Hearing this news, Nusrat came to the side of the highway with her parents to go to Nanabari of Mahishmari village of Rajair upazila. At that time, a reckless speeding motorcycle hit Nusrat while trying to get into the battery-powered van. Later, Nusrat was rescued and taken to Rajair Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Israfil Molla, Nusrat’s brother-in-law, said that the reckless motorcycle crushed Nusrat. This is why Nusrat died.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajair police station confirmed this. Asaduzzaman Howladar Asad said that the motorcyclist could not be identified. However, the operation continues.
