The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has highlighted her commitment to strengthening ties between Madrid and Chile and expressed her determination when it comes to increasing and making more accessible flights between both regions. This initiative was highlighted during a meeting in Santiago de Chile, where the Madrid leader participated in a working lunch organized by the Chilean Chamber of Construction, together with representatives of the main Chilean economic sectors, including mining, construction, agriculture, commerce, banking and industry.

Within the framework of this meeting, Díaz Ayuso highlighted the strategic importance of the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas International Airport as a vital gateway for travel between Europe and South America, especially to Chile.

In 2023, nearly 500,000 passengers left the Community of Madrid for Chile, registering a notable growth of 17% compared to the previous year. However, the Madrid president pointed out the need to continue increasing these connections and making them more affordable, in order to avoid obstacles in investments and communications between both regions. “It is crucial to guarantee that these flights are not only increased, but also that they are more accessible, to avoid short circuits in investments and communications between Madrid and Chile,” said Díaz Ayuso during the meeting in Chile. Díaz Ayuso emphasized that Madrid stands as a reference point for investors around the world, taking advantage of its privileged geographical location in the heart of Spain and its solid relations with other countries, such as Portugal and the Valencian Community. Likewise, he highlighted the predictable economic policies and legal security offered by the Madrid region, which generates confidence for both national and foreign investors. “We are a beacon of opportunities for investors from all over the world, with predictable economic policies that inspire confidence,” Díaz Ayuso stressed.

The Madrid president also highlighted in Chile the high capacity of the projects of the universities and business schools of the community of Madrid, which have become “a world reference.” “We are committed to bringing the best students, the professionals, those who want to continue growing with ambition,” he stressed.
