Ayan’s death: Health protection movement demands arrest of accused doctors

An organization called Health Protection Andolan has demanded the arrest of the doctors accused in the death of baby Ayaan while undergoing Sunnah circumcision. The organization made this demand in a human chain in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday morning.

At that time, the leaders and activists of the organization also announced to lay siege to the United Medical College Hospital on Madani Avenue in the capital if the accused are not arrested within 48 hours.

The participants in the human chain and the family members claimed that the death of baby Ayaan was due to the negligence of the doctors. They also alleged that additional anesthesia was given without permission.

Baby Ayan died last Sunday after being unconscious for 8 days while undergoing circumcision. Later, two doctors, Dr. Anesthesia specialist. Ayan’s father filed a case against the director-employees of the institution including Saeed Sabbir Ahmed, surgery doctor Tasnuva Mahjabin.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court lawyer Advocate ABM Shahjahan Akand Masum filed a writ in the High Court seeking a direction to pay one crore compensation to the family of the child Ayan Ahmed on Tuesday.

Besides, the health department has formed a committee of 4 members to investigate the negligence of the doctors in the death of Ayan.
