The rivalry between Rajapur and Kathalia upazila Awami League and its affiliates has been resolved with Barrister M Shahjahan Omar Bir Uttam, the Bangladesh Awami League nominated boat symbol candidate for Jhalkathi-1 (Rajapur-Kathalia) constituency.
On Wednesday evening, Awami League’s advisory council member and coordinator and spokesperson of 14 parties, Bangladesh Awami League’s nominated candidate for Jhalkathi-2 seat, Amir Hossain Amur initiated this compromise.
Amir Hossain Amur introduced Shahjahan Omar to his residence in Barisal with party leaders and activists of two upazilas. Jhalkathi District Awami League President Sardkar Shah Alam, District Awami League General Secretary Khan Saifullah Paneer, Rajapur Upazila Chairman Principal Moniruzzaman, Kathalia Upazila Chairman and Upazila Awami League General Secretary Enamul Haque Monir, Rajapur Upazila Awami League President AHM Khairul Alam Sarfraz, General Secretary Zia Haider Khan Liton, Women Vice Chairman Afroza Akhter Laizu along with UP chairmen of two upazilas, leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organizations were present.
Earlier, a group of leaders-activists including president-editor of Rajapur Upazila Awami League announced to work against Barrister M Shahjahan Omar. On December 18, the upazila Awami League decided to work against the boat and made a new resolution. Upazila Awami League President AHM Khairul Alam Sarfraz, General Secretary Zia Hyder Khan Liton and at least 25 leaders and workers signed that resolution.
