Awami League leader in jail in rape case

Bajitpur Upazila of Kishoreganj Awami League General Secretary Abdullah Al Mamun has been ordered to be sent to jail in a rape case.

When Kishoreganj No. 2 Women and Children Torture Prevention Tribunal appeared in the court, Judge Md. Rezaul Karim refused his bail. Kishoreganj Court Police Inspector Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the matter.

According to the details of the case, Mamun was introduced to a woman of Gobindpur Tegharia village in Bajitpur through mobile phone. At some point a love relationship develops between them. On the afternoon of March 5 last year, Mamun went to her house and found her alone and forcibly raped her with the temptation of marriage.

Later, the local people were raped several times by talking about the relationship between husband and wife. When the locals asked for marriage, one day the Maulvi called and recited the shara and made them believe that they had married.

After a few days when she asked for the marriage cabin, Mamun started arguing and started abusing her as a bad girl. Desperate, the woman filed a case in the Kishoreganj court on May 21 last year. The PBI was tasked to investigate the case.

He was on bail from the High Court for a long time in this case. Later, according to the instructions of the High Court, when the accused Mamun appeared in the Kishoreganj court on Sunday and applied for bail, the court refused the bail and ordered to send him to jail.
