Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the necessary funds have been allocated for uninterrupted power supply in the coming summer.
Nasrul Hamid said this after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Matters at the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.
The Minister of State said that approval has been received to buy one cargo of LNG at 9.8 dollars per unit from the spot market. Apart from this, the cabinet also approved the allocation of necessary funds for gas exploration in the country.
Nasrul Hamid said the cabinet committee approved the proposal to buy one more wellhead compressor for Comilla’s Srikail gas field.
Meanwhile, an agreement worth 2.1 billion dollars has been signed with the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) to buy gas and oil. Out of which 1.6 billion dollars will be given by Bangladesh Bank and 800 million dollars by ITFC. Of this, $500 million will be used to buy LNG. The remaining money will be used to buy fuel.
