Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui has joined as the new Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). He replaced the outgoing Director General Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan. Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui served as Director of Military Training Directorate and Chairman of Army Sports Control Board at Bangladesh Army Headquarters before joining Border Guard Bangladesh.
Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui joined the Bangladesh Military Academy with the 27th BMA Long Term Course and was commissioned in the Artillery Corps of the Bangladesh Army on 20 December 1992.
He has completed various professional training courses at home and abroad. He attended the School of Artillery, Fort Sill, USA; Defense Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Dhaka; Completed training from Defense Services Staff College, Wellington, Tamil Nadu, India and National Defense College, New Delhi, India.
He graduated from Chittagong University and Masters of Defense Studies (MDS) from National University, MSc and MPhil from University of Madras, India and MBA from Bangladesh University of Professional (BUP).
Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui has held various command, staff and instructor duties in various assignments at home and abroad. He served in 5 artillery units and commanded an artillery regiment and two artillery brigades.
He also served as an Instructor of Bangladesh Military Academy, Staff Officer Grade-3 of an Infantry Division, Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade and Staff Colonel of an Infantry Division. Apart from this, he served as the Director of the Internal Affairs Bureau of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).
Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui participated in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Ethiopia and Sudan and completed the mission with great success. He also served as the Peacekeeping Mission Operations Force Generation Officer at the United Nations Secretariat in New York, USA.
