The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three people, including the mastermind behind the lynching of a college teacher over a land dispute in Gazipur’s Kaliakore.
Major General Yasir Arafat, Company Commander of Porabari Camp of RAB-1, gave this information in a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
The arrested are the son of deceased Afaz Uddin of Sajandhar village of Kaliakair police station. Mujibar, Mujibar’s two sons. Suman and Md. Cezanne.
The RAB official said that Reza Saeed Al Mamun, Assistant Professor of Economics Department of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Government College, was working on his land on the afternoon of January 28. At that time, accused Mujibar and his two sons Suman, Sijan hit him with sticks and weapons due to a previous dispute over land. The seriously injured college teacher died before being taken to the hospital.
The day after this incident, Professor Reza’s wife Hasina Akhter filed a murder case at Kaliakair police station as a plaintiff. Later, a team of RAB-1 conducted a raid on the basis of information technology and secret information and arrested the absconding accused Mujibar and his two sons from Jayertek area of Konabari police station.
During RAB’s interrogation, the arrested said that he confessed to killing Professor Reza by hitting him hard with sticks and native weapons on the orders of Muhammad Ali due to a dispute over land.
