Manzoor Alam Shikder, chairman of e-commerce company Alesha Mart, has been arrested by the police. He was arrested by Banani police station on Saturday night from Banani area.
Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Shahan Haque confirmed his arrest to Independent Television.
Kazi Shahan said that Manzoor was arrested from Banani area of the capital on Saturday night. Manzoor has an arrest warrant in connection with more than 100 cases of fraud committed by customers of Alesha Mart.
The police officer also said that the chairman of Alesha Mart has been sent to court on Sunday.
There is also a case under Prevention of Money Laundering Act against Manzoor, chairman of Alesha Mart. The plaintiff in the case is the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police.
Alesha Mart started its operations in 2021. After that, he takes advance money from the customers for supplying various electronic products including motorcycles at a low price. Later, it was alleged that the money was being laundered fraudulently under the guise of e-commerce business without giving the products to the customers or refunding the money.
