Madaripur’s Shivchar was attacked by two groups and injured. A young man named Shakeel Matubbar (18) died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College.
Before this, Shakeel was injured in an attack by two sides in the Kadirpur area of the upazila last Sunday (January 14) afternoon. After being under treatment for five days in this incident, he died on Saturday afternoon.
It is known that the deceased Shakil is the son of Bachchu Munsi of Okeluddin Munshikandi village of Kadirpur Union.
According to police and local sources, while buying tomatoes from the market in Kadirpur last Sunday (January 14) in the afternoon, there was an argument with the local Farooq Munsi, the opponent Basha Mridha. People from both sides clashed over the incident. At that time some people including Shakeel were cut and injured with a sharp knife.
Later, Shakeel was sent to Dhaka Medical for advanced treatment that day in critical condition. Shakeel died on Saturday afternoon while undergoing treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibchar Police Station Subrata Goldar said, ‘In this incident, a case was filed by both parties at Shibchar Police Station on the night of January 14. The operation to nab the accused is continuing. Besides, after hearing the news of Shakeel’s death on Saturday afternoon, the police have been deployed in the area to deal with the unpleasant situation again.’
