For the second day, the hearing on the appeal application is going on in the Election Commission (EC) to restore the candidature of the candidates who were eliminated in the selection of the nomination papers of the 12th National Parliament.
The second day of hearing started at 10 am on Monday at the Election Commission building in Agargaon of the capital. It will continue until the afternoon.
35 people were heard at the beginning of the day on Monday till 12:15. Among them, the appeal has been canceled for 22 people. And 13 candidates have returned. As such, the appeal cancellation rate is high.
On the first day yesterday, EC settled the application of 94 people. Among them 56 candidates got back. And the application was canceled for 32 people. Also, the commission said that the decision about 6 people will be announced later.
The EC said that all appeals will be settled and the decision will be announced by December 15.
Meanwhile, 2 thousand 716 people submitted nomination papers in this election. The nomination papers of 731 people were canceled during verification. The 5-day appeal period against cancellation of candidature ended on Saturday. 130 people appealed to get their candidature back on the last day on Saturday. A total of 561 applications were submitted in 5 days. Most of them are independent candidates. Apart from this, at least 11 nominations have been appealed against validity.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal announced the schedule of the 12th National Election on November 15. According to the schedule, the vote will be held on January 7.
