Beijing has said that the idea of unifying Taiwan with China will remain the same. China will not withdraw from this process with the victory of the presidential candidate William Lai Ching in this election. Chinese President Xi Jinping said the same in his New Year message.

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate William Lai Ching may be under a lot of pressure after coming to power as the new president next May. China branded him a ‘troublemaker’ ahead of Saturday’s national election.
