Popular Islamic speaker Maulana Amir Hamza has been released from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur. He was released from Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur at 12:15 on Thursday.
Confirming the matter, Senior Jail Superintendent Subrata Kumar Bala said, after receiving the bail papers of Maulana Amir Hamza in the jail, it was decided to release him after scrutiny. He was later released from jail some time after 11:30 on Thursday.
On May 24, 2021, he was arrested by a team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Counter Terrorism Unit on charges of misrepresenting religion and spreading extremism through WAZ.
After that, Mufti Amir Hamza was remanded for five days by the police in the case of anti-terrorism law. After that, Amir Hamza was imprisoned in Kashimpur jail from May 31, 2021.
There are two separate cases against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act in Darus Salam and Shere-Bangla Nagar police stations of the capital. He got bail in both the cases.
