America announced another $250 million military aid package for Ukraine. In a statement on Wednesday local time, the White House confirmed the assistance, according to the British media BBC.
The White House said the new package would include air defense systems, artillery, ammunition and anti-tank weapons. However, this is the last aid package not approved by the US Congress. From then on, the Biden administration will have to get congressional approval to provide aid to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Barta Reuters says that the United States has announced new arms support to Ukraine at a time when the US administration has been unable to provide financial and military aid to Ukraine for several months due to the conflict between the ruling and opposition parties in the United States.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in a statement, “Ukraine is fighting to save its country and freedom against Russian aggression. And this is why it is important to support our Ukrainian partners.’
Noting that a coalition of more than 50 nations continues to provide aid to Ukraine, Blinken said: ‘It is imperative that Congress act as soon as possible to advance our national security interests by helping to defend Ukraine and secure the country’s future.’
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently visited the United States to seek help in the fight against Russia. However, he failed to win the approval of Republican lawmakers at the time.
Because instead of giving new aid to Ukraine, Republicans are focused on strengthening security on the US-Mexico border.
It should be noted that since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the Biden administration has sent military aid worth about 44.3 billion US dollars to Ukraine.
