Mild to moderate cold current has been going on for six consecutive days in Panchagarh. Although the temperature has slightly increased today Saturday compared to yesterday Friday, severe cold is felt. People’s life has been disturbed by fog and cold air.
The minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius was recorded by the Tetulia Meteorological Office at 9 am on Saturday. Yesterday Friday, the lowest temperature of this winter season was recorded at 5.8 degrees Celsius. The temperature is slightly higher than yesterday.
Russell Shah, officer-in-charge of Tentulia Meteorological Office, said that the minimum temperature in this district has been fluctuating between 7 and 10 since last Monday. A minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius was recorded at 9 am on Thursday. The minimum temperature on Wednesday was 8.4 degrees.
Meanwhile, due to the fog, vehicles were seen moving on the road with headlights on in the morning and afternoon. In the bone-shaking winter of Magh, the distraught and hungry people have suffered greatly. Agricultural production has been adversely affected. Boro seedbeds are fading, potato fields are wasting away.
The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain across the country including Dhaka from January 31 to February 2.
