Alleged attack on independent candidate’s convoy in Jessore

There has been an allegation of attack on the convoy of independent candidate Yakub Ali in Jessore-5 constituency. There were also multiple cocktail explosions during the attack. Some motorcycles and cars were vandalized.

The incident took place in Kashimpur village of the upazila around 10:30 pm today. Later, when the locals came forward, the assailants fled.

Yakub Ali claimed that he was returning home with supporters after the election campaign. At one point, when the convoy reached Kashimpur area, terrorists led by Supriya Bhattacharya, son of the current Member of Parliament, Swapan Bhattacharya, attacked the convoy. At that time, the attackers vandalized 4 motorcycles in the fleet and my car. At least three people were injured in the incident. The matter has been reported to the police.

Jessore Detective Police (OC) Rupan Kumar Sarkar said, ‘We have heard the incident. Multiple teams of police have been sent to the spot.

Awami League has given party nomination to Cooperative State Minister Swapan Bhattacharya for Jessore-5 (Monirampur) constituency in the 12th National Assembly Elections.
