Allegations of amputation of hands of construction workers in Madaripur

Due to previous enmity in Madaripur, a construction worker’s right hand was cut off and half of his left leg was amputated against the opponent’s people. The incident took place in New Madaripur area around 9:30 pm on Sunday.

The injured Humayun Matubbar (30) is the son of Rahman Matubbar of Rasti Union in Sadar Upazila.

According to the relatives, Humayun Matubbar was returning to Nijbari from Madaripur city around 9:30 pm on Sunday. It was alleged that Al Amin Howladar and his father Alamgir Howladar of the same village had ambushed Humayun with their men due to previous enmity. At that time, they severed the right hand and cut half of the left leg along with injuries in different parts of the body. The attackers ran away when the people around came forward at Humayun’s call. Later, the locals rescued the construction worker Humayun in a critical condition and admitted him to the district headquarters hospital. When the condition worsened, he was quickly sent to Pangu Hospital in Dhaka in critical condition.

Dr. Madaripur Sadar Hospital Medical Officer. Abu Safar Howladar said that Humayun’s body has bruises in different parts of his body. The condition is further aggravated by the amputation of the right arm. Later he was sent to Pangu Hospital in Dhaka for better treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station AHM Salauddin said that legal action will be taken in this regard. Police are working to nab those who attacked Humayun. There are more than two dozen cases against the injured Humayun and the accused Alamgir Howladar.
