A small passenger plane bound for Moscow has crashed in Afghanistan’s northeastern Badakhshan province. Local media reported that the plane crashed in a mountainous area on Saturday night.
The passenger plane crashed in the Topkhana Hills spread across Kiran and Minjan districts and Zebak district of Badakhshan. However, it is not yet known what type of aircraft it was and how many passengers were on board.
Zabihullah Amiri, chief engineer of Badakhshan Information and Culture Department, told local media Khama Press that rescue teams have been sent to the accident site. No details are known yet.
Initially, the aircraft was said to be Indian, but till the latest news, it is not actually Indian. The Ministry of Civil Aviation of India has confirmed this information. According to the news agency AFP, Badakhshan province borders China, Tajikistan and Pakistan.
