After two and a half hours, train movement on the Dhaka-Chittagong route became normal. A cargo lorry overturned after losing control on the Dhaka-Chittagong railway crossing on the Comilla-Noakhali highway at 7 am on Thursday. Two CNG-powered autorickshaws were crushed under the lorry.

As the lorry could not be immediately removed from the railway line, train movement on the down line from Dhaka to Chittagong was stopped for at least two and a half hours. Then around 9:30 in the morning, after the accident lorry was removed and taken to Lalmai Highway outpost, the train movement became normal.

Comilla Railway Senior Assistant Engineer Liaquat Ali confirmed this.

Senior Deputy Assistant of Comilla Railway said that the accident took place on Thursday morning at seven o’clock. The lorry lost control and rammed two autorickshaws on the railway crossing. Due to which the railway line from Dhaka to Chittagong was closed. After two and a half hours, the train movement was normal.

In-charge of Comilla Railway, Mustafa Kamal, said that no casualty has been reported so far. However, lorries and auto-rickshaws were badly damaged.
