After about 7 hours of the train accident at Tejgaon in the capital, rail communication with Dhaka has been normalized across the country. It is said that the engine and carriage of the accident train were removed shortly after 12 midnight on Thursday. The authorities said that rail communication has been normalized after this.
Earlier on Thursday at 10:15 pm, the Elevated Expressway authorities removed the crane involved in the accident and the train movement in one direction started.
A Dhaka-bound Titus commuter train collided with a crane used for the development of the elevated expressway at Tejgaon around 5:30 pm on Thursday. The crane overturned and a coach of the train including the engine derailed.
Since the incident, the train movement between Dhaka and the whole country has been stopped. About 7 hours after the train accident, the train movement was normalized shortly after 12:00 pm on Thursday.
Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Mohammad Masud Sarwar said that this incident happened soon after the Titas commuter train left Tejgaon station. The engine of the train derailed after being hit by a crane used in Dhaka Elevated Expressway work.
No casualties were initially reported.
