After 6 and a half hours, the ferry service started on Narsinghpur in Shariatpur and Harinaghat in Chandpur. As the thick fog cleared, the ferry service started again on Monday around 9:30 am.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Narsinghpur ferry ghat manager Md. Iqbal Hossain confirmed this information.
Earlier, BIWTC stopped the ferry service on this route from 3 pm on Sunday.
Md. Iqbal Hossain said, due to dense fog, ferry traffic was stopped from 3 pm on Sunday to avoid accidents. Later, when the density of fog reduced, the ferry service started again around 9:30 am on Monday. Five small and big ferries ply on this route for vehicular crossing.
This official also said that hundreds of small vehicles were waiting to cross as the ferry was closed.
