As the thick fog has cleared, ferry traffic has been normalized on Narsinghpur in Shariatpur and Harinaghat in Chandpur. After being closed for four hours, the ferry service resumed at around 4 am on Tuesday morning.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) ghat authorities stopped traffic on this route from 12 midnight on Monday.
Manager of BIWTC Narsinghpur Ferighat. Iqbal Hossain said that due to thick fog, ferry traffic was stopped from 12 o’clock on Monday to avoid boat accidents. Later, when the density of the fog reduced, the ferry service resumed around 4 am on Tuesday. However, no ferry had to be anchored midway.
He said that there are five small and big ferries on this route for vehicle crossing.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said that the severity of winter will increase across the country from Wednesday. Fog will increase as well. At the end of this month, there is a danger of a cold wave, according to meteorologists.
