The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) raided the National Housing Authority building. On receiving a complaint from a customer, a team led by Assistant Director Abul Kalam Azad conducted the operation.

During the operation, the team found hundreds of listings and sales applications in file. Out of which several applications are pending for 5 years. A few customers, keeping their identities secret, complained that even with bribes, work is not done in this office.

It is known from the sources of housing authority, during the operation ACC team National Housing Authority director (land and property management) Md. Ahsan met with Habib and informed them about the complaint.

After the ACC raid, the files have been assured of speedy disposal. The team has also been informed that departmental action will be taken if allegations of irregularities against anyone are found to be true.

Apart from this, the ACC said that legal action will be taken against the accused if specific information-evidence is found regarding the bribery transaction. After a month, the agency will want to know what the housing authority did about the on-file application.

Meanwhile, according to the ACC sources, the operation was conducted in view of several complaints, including a plot owner of Section-12, Block-C of Mirpur under the jurisdiction of Dhaka. The owner wrote in his complaint that he decided to sell the plot as he needed cash for his daughter’s marriage and other family activities.
