Miscreants robbed a young man of 18 lakh 30 thousand rupees by stabbing him on his way to the bank in Madaripur. The incident took place in the city’s old market around 12 noon on Monday. Later, locals rescued the injured youth and admitted him to Madaripur Sadar Hospital.
It is known that the name of the injured youth is Tanmoy Bepari (25). He is the son of Osman Bepari of Mahisherchar village of Panchkhola Union of Sadar Upazila.
Citing the victim’s family, the police said, Tanmoy Bepari is the son of Osman Bepari, a fruit trader in the old market of Madaripur city. As the bank was closed due to the election, the fruit shop kept 18 lakh 30 thousand taka for themselves. As banks are open on Monday, they left the shop around 12 noon to deposit money in Uttara Bank and Islami Bank of Puran Bazar.
At that time, a group of 3/4 robbers who were coming from the east in an alley of the old market stabbed Tanmoy and took 18 lakh 30 thousand taka. Later, the locals rescued Tanmoy in an injured state and admitted him to Sadar Hospital, police said.
In this incident, Tanmay’s grandfather Ajibar Bepari said, ‘My grandson was cut with a knife and robbed of Tk 18 lakh 30. We have already informed Sadar police station to recover the money.
In this regard, the officer in charge of Sadar police station AHM. Salahuddin said, ‘We have not received any written complaint in the police station regarding the robbery incident. If we receive complaints, we will take necessary action later.’
