A woman named Baby Akhter (26) was killed in a collision between two CNG-driven auto-rickshaws in Kalmanda, Netrakona. At this time, 9 more people were injured.
The accident took place at Duburikanda area of Netrakona-Kalmakanda regional highway of Kalmakanda upazila on Monday around 12:30 PM.
Deceased baby Akhter is the wife of Maruf Mia of Mantala village of Kalmakanda Upazila Sadar. However, the police could not immediately reveal the names and identities of the injured. However, the police said that all the injured were passengers and drivers of the autorickshaw.
As the condition of two of the injured is critical, they have been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. The rest are being treated at Kalmakanda Upazila Health Complex.
Kalmakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Lutful Haque said that an autorickshaw loaded with passengers was going to Kalmakanda from Netrakona. At that time, another autorickshaw loaded with passengers from Kalmakanda was heading towards Netrakona. On the way, two auto-rickshaws collided when they reached Duburikanda area of Kalmakanda. Baby Akhter died on the spot. The rest of the injured were rescued by locals and sent to Upazila Health Complex.
