A school teacher named Soma Barnaji was burnt in a fire in a four-storey building in Jhenaidah’s Kaliganj. A fire broke out on the ground floor of a four-story building around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Old tires and mustard oil were stored there.

Injured Soma Barnaji school teacher. He was first admitted to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex. Later referred to Jessore 250 bed hospital. His hands, feet and face were burnt.

Kaliganj Fire Service Officer Mamun Or Rashid said that after getting the information about the fire, the fire brigade reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. They were joined by 2 units from Jhenaidah and Kotchandpur. After an hour of effort, the fire was brought under control.

Mamun Or Rashid also said that Krishi Bank is on the second floor of the building, while the third and fourth floors are residential. As soon as the fire broke out, the entire building was engulfed in black smoke. At that time, the people of the building took shelter on the roof.
