For the first time after the 12th National Assembly elections, the ruling Awami League and the main opposition BNP will hold programs in the capital on the same day. BNP will hold a black flag march in all major cities including the capital on Saturday. And Awami League will hold a peace rally at Bangabandhu Avenue at 3 pm.
In a press release signed by Riaz Uddin Riaz, office secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League on Friday, it was informed that Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will be the chief guest at this peace and democracy rally. The meeting will be presided over by Abu Ahmed Mannafi, President of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League.
BNP will hold a black flag march in major cities including Dhaka today at 2 pm to demand price hike of daily necessities, release of jailed leaders and activists, cancellation of ‘illegal parliament’ and resignation of the government. The party held black flag marches in the district yesterday on Friday.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said in a press conference on Thursday afternoon that the black flag procession will start from the front of BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan in the capital on Saturday at 2 pm.
On October 28 last year, a BNP rally broke up in a clash with the police at Nayapaltan in the capital. Later, the party gave a program like continuous hartal-blockade.
