Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, ‘BNP has no time to talk about any comments. Extreme frustration is working in them with the movement, failure. Out of despair, reality is detached from them, and they talk gibberish.’
Obaidul Quader said these things while talking to reporters at Banani Setu Bhavan after meeting with the World Bank delegation on Wednesday.
Regarding the ongoing tension on the Myanmar-Bangladesh border, Quader said, ‘They will understand the internal affairs of Myanmar. However, the government is alert to ensure that there is no threat to the security of Bangladesh. Discussions are ongoing with other countries including China. Rohingyas will not be allowed to enter again. Those who have been detained will be sent back.’
General Secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader said that the leadership delegation of World Bank country director came. Road safety project was discussed. The increasing number of road accidents cannot be controlled. The government has undertaken a project with the World Bank at a cost of Tk 4,988 crore to build safe roads. In this, the World Bank loan is 3 thousand 707 crores and the government will spend 1 thousand 238 crores.
Obaidul Quader said, Bangladesh has not done any project with the World Bank after the Padma Bridge. Recruitment of project consultant is in progress. Project is starting. The duration of this project is from 2023 to June 2028. The project will include Police Training Center, Call Center, Ambulance Service, Patrol Motorcycle, Integrated Traffic Management, Rescue Team.
If there is any corruption in this project, the government will take strict action, said Obaidul Quader.
