A day laborer’s throat was found lying in the canal in Sherpur

The police recovered the strangled body of a day laborer from the bank of the Kuttamara Lilu canal near the diversion of the bridge under construction in Sherpur’s Nalitabari on Friday. The deceased Shah Kamal is the son of deceased Zubed Ali of Kuttamara area.

The police arrested UP Chairman Habibur Rahman Habi and brought five people to the police station for questioning.

According to police and family sources, Shahkamal left the house at around 7 pm on Thursday and went to the neighboring market. When he did not return home at night, his wife Shefali Begum told everyone in the house at around 5 o’clock. Later, the people of the house called the relatives and searched around but did not find Shah Kamal anywhere. Later this morning around 9:30 a.m. a young man named Roni Mia went to the bank of the canal to answer the call of nature near his house and saw the dead body.

When Roni called 999, the police of Nalitabari police station recovered the body and brought it to the police station. It was later found to be the body of Shahkamal.

According to the police, the body was recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. Some are being interrogated. Further investigation is also underway. The case has not been taken till the writing of this report.
