A ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan seems difficult for Biden

US President Joe Biden said it would be difficult to enforce a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan. He told reporters this on Friday local time.

Ramadan may start next Monday or Tuesday in Gaza according to the Hijri calendar. But the whole thing depends on the sighting of the moon.

Asked if a ceasefire deal in Gaza during Ramadan was possible, Biden said, ‘It seems difficult.’

Earlier on Tuesday, Joe Biden warned that there would be a “very dangerous” situation if there was no ceasefire in Gaza before the holy month of Ramadan. At the same time, he said, the acceptance of the ceasefire agreement depends on Hamas.

Reuters reports that talks in Egypt’s capital Cairo on a possible cease-fire deal in Gaza have collapsed.

On October 7, the Palestinian armed group Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 253 hostages. Israel started a military operation in Gaza after this incident. So far 30 thousand 800 people have been killed in the valley by the attack of the Israeli forces. About 72 thousand 198 people were injured.
