In Pirojpur’s Indurkani, a case has been filed against 9 leaders and activists of the opposition Chhatra League in the case of cutting the leg veins and two fingers of Municipal Jubo League’s organizing secretary Mamun Sheikh. Jubo League leader’s mother Mumtaz Begum filed the case at Indurkani police station on Wednesday morning in the name of 9 leaders and activists of district and upazila Chhatra League.
The defendants in the case are – Pirojpur District Chhatra League Vice President Md. Naeem Khan (26), the former vice-president of District Chhatra League. Qayyum Kazi (24), former joint secretary Saifur Rahman Shamim (25), former joint secretary of Suhrawardy College Chhatra League Rabbi Howladar, former joint secretary Shaheen (20), Indurkani College Chhatra League leader Shakib (23), former general secretary of Bhandaria Upazila Chhatra League Shamim ( 35), former District Chhatra League publicity secretary Millat and District Chhatra League leader Saju.
Mamun’s mother claimed that Chhatra League workers hacked him and seriously injured him on January 28. The injured Mamun Sheikh is the former Vice President of Pirojpur District Chhatra League and the Organizing Secretary of Municipal Jubo League. He is the son of Shah Alam Sheikh of Palpara area of Ward No. 4 of Pirojpur Municipality.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Indurkani Police Station. Kamruzzaman Talukadar said, “In the case of the injury of Jubilee League leader Mamun Sheikh, his mother filed a case against 9 attackers on Wednesday. An operation is underway to arrest the accused.
The OC said that after watching the video footage, those involved in the attack have been charged.
In this regard, Pirojpur District Chhatra League President Aniruzzaman Anik said, ‘The injured Jubo League leader Mamun Sheikh is also a member of the same party. District Chhatra League will not take responsibility if those who cut and injured him remain involved in BCL activists and attacks. They will come under the law. But the innocent person should not be harassed.’
