A businessman was killed when a cargo mixer overturned in Hajiganj

In Hajiganj of Chandpur, the cargo mixer lost control and fell into the canal. A businessman named Mizanur Rahman (45) died. The accident took place on the Koyarpur-Alipur road of Sadar Union of the upazila on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased is the son of late Mustafa Kamal of Mir’s house in Alipur village of Mizan Union.

Locals said that Mizanur Rahman was doing grocery business in his area. Today at noon he was returning to the shop after buying goods from Hajiganj market. On the way, the mixer lost control and fell down the road from the Koyarpur-Alipur road in front of Pathuria’s house in his village. At that time, Mizanur Rahman was buried under the goods including the mixer and he was seriously injured in the abandoned bamboo and bushes under the road. Locals immediately rushed to rescue him and took him to Hajiganj Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty declared him dead after examination.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer confirmed the death. Md. Golam Mawla said, ‘Mizanur Rahman died before being brought to the hospital.’

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Hajiganj police station Muhammad Abdur Rashid said, ‘Police have been sent to the victim’s house after receiving the news. Legal action will be taken later.’
